Now Available: From My Heart Suite

The 2020 Occasions catalog has officially released! The From My Heart Suite was one of the first things that caught my eye, and it is the suite that I'm featuring in this post. I didn't pre-orderthe entire suite, but I did get the stamp set, coordinating punches, designer series paper (DSP), ribbon, and doilies.

The first card I made was focused on being simple and using a mix of colors. The doilies are a great size, and the stamp set includes a few stamps that fit inside the middle of the heart. I embossed the greeting on this one without issue. To give a unique look to this Valentine's Day card, I added some green leaves from the Beautiful Friendship stamp set. I only used two colors: Shaded Spruce and Pear Pizzazz. The effect of multiple shades of green was achieved by stamping each image twice, without re-inking. So I stamped the full color in one spot, then immediately stamped it somewhere else to give it a lighter color.

To get the leaves perfectly placed, flip the doily over so the white side is face up. Place it where you want it to be, and then you can start stamping the leaves around it. You can overlap the stamp over the doily, since it will be flipped in the final product.

By the way, this ribbon is great! It's nice and flat which makes it very easy to use with layers on cards.

This next card is one of my favorite designs that I like to use every time there's a new product suite. I was pleased to see that the Pinewood Planks embossing folder (one of my favorites) paired so well with this new DSP and stamp set. This particular design of the DSP has a beautiful shimmer throughout - it's much prettier than I could capture in a still picture. And, of course, I was excited to see that the stamp set works well with my favorite dies, the Stitched Shapes Dies. This is a quick and easy card that any level stamper can do, with the right tools!

This card uses the same technique as the first card in this post. The hearts are stamped from fresh ink, and then I stamp again directly after for a lighter color. I also did a third stamp in some areas for a very, very light color. This is another great card for a beginner, even though it looks a little complicated. Just build up the layers, and away you go!

How cute are the greetings in this set?! I love that it's a Valentine's Day set that equally can be used as a romantic greeting or a friendly greeting. This particular greeting is one I'd use for most of my girl friends, and it's perfect for those you work with!

The punches are also great in this suite. The DSP features a few different designs that have hearts on them that can be punched out right from there, or you can use it in conjunction with some of the stamps or just with regular cardstock or non-specific-shaped DSP. The non-scalloped punch is slightly smaller than the scalloped punch, so you could also layer them together.

This is a card I would use for a card class with beginner stampers, and I think it's a great starter card. I would pre-emboss the background to save time, but everything else is absolutely doable for a new stamper.

Overall, I really enjoyed getting to test out this Suite. It's beginner friendly, can be used for friends, spouses, coworkers, family, and really just about anyone. The DSP can seem a little overwhelming with all the pink and red if that's not your thing, but use it sparingly and it gives a beautiful stepped up look to any project. You can see in the picture above that I used it to create small bags that I will put jelly beans in as a sweet gift.

I'm excited to keep working with it and seeing what else I can come up with! The possibilities are endless!
