A Colorful Barn

I've had this Heartland stamp set on my list for quite awhile, and the idea of coloring it with the Stampin' Blends finally pushed me to order it. And I'm so glad I did! Even just stamped in black and white, this barn is a beauty. I've already thought of a few different card ideas (which I'm sure I'll share soon) for this stamp.

But today, I wanted to color me a nice, red barn! The blends can be a little difficult to color super tight areas, since they can bleed a little, but it was worth the trouble for the end result. I paired this beautiful image with a subtle wood background, using Smoky Slate ink with the Hardwood stamp on Whisper White cardstock, to round out the country feel of this card. The new black emboss powder stood out nicely over the wood background, and I loved trying this new (to me) style of cutting the ribbon in a serpentine. And of course, everything pulled together over the Cherry Cobbler card base!

I always love when I can make a card with a country feel, since cards like these always make me feel at home. I really hope Stampin' Up! comes out with some great new horse stamps soon, but in the meantime, I think I'll be getting a lot of use of my new Heartland set!
